The goal of Selma Baptist Student Ministry (Grades 6-12 ) is to help students become committed followers of Jesus Christ.
We also want students to connect with others. On Sunday nights from 6:00 – 8:00pm we focus on life application Bible studies. This helps them see how to apply God’s Word directly to their lives. Through this we also hope to equip them to be better prepared to engage with their friends who may be far from God and be able to tell them about the hope that they have in Jesus. This is also a time of food and fun where they can strengthen their friendship with other students. As Christians we all need other Christians in our lives. We hope that through our youth group they can build these life long friendships. Sunday mornings at 9:45am are gatherings geared at strengthening relationships through discussions.
Throughout the year we also have different events which serve different purposes from missions, evangelism, and fellowship. While these events are fun, they also help youth to carry their faith out into the world around them and help them to see what it is like to serve others.
In the end we hope to help train up youth who one day will be able to train up the generation that will follow them (2 Timothy 2:2) after all they are our future leaders. Our key verse is 1 Timothy 4:12, “Don’t let anyone think less of you because you are young. Be an example to all believers in what you say, in the way you live, in your love, your faith, and your purity.” We hope that we can empower them to live this type of life.
